2014 Year in review

It feels like I haven't done as much sewing this year as previously, my work hours have increased and I've been concentrating on karate (I achieved my black belt in early December). I have focussed a bit more on fit and what I wear so have been sewing more basics and knit garments. Fit is such a funny thing, as soon as I feel I have something nailed I pick up another adjustment that needs to be worked out!

In summary I've sewn about 35 garments and 8 of them were for other people (this doesn't include the 200 odd prem baby gowns and memory blanket sets). I've actually sewn a bit more than I thought!

My top 3 most worn,

Thankyou for all the lovely comments on my garments for the last year and here's to another year of happy sewing!

  1. The McCalls really looks fabulous! I can see why you got a lot of wear! happy 2015!

  2. Suzy, you had a great year. Loved taking part of your journey. happy sewing 2015

  3. I belong to a group that also sews baby gowns for local mortuaries . What are memory blankets ? Is there a pattern for gowns & blankets ?

    1. Hi Mary Ellen, Heres the link to the memory blanket pattern;

      and the gowns that we use (these are for prem babies mostly, there are smaller patterns again for burial gowms and we make them from flanellette instead of a quilting cotton, but the shape is the same)

      I buy up flanellette sheeting when I can find it, it comes in a 2.5m width so you can make a few blankets out of it otherwise it can get really expensive,
      Hope that helps!

  4. Congrats on your black belt! That is amazing and so much hard work and training must have gone into that achievement :D :D :D Also, you are the queen of pants/trousers/jeans in my book. Your fitting skills for these inspire me. As does your fab blue shoes ;)

  5. Congratulations on the Black Belt and Happy New Year!
